Industrial Leadership for a More Circular Switzerland

As Switzerland's largest scrap-based steel producer, Stahl Gerlafingen has long demonstrated that industrial scale and circular principles are not in tension, they are, in fact, the same strategy.

But a circular economy does not run on good intentions. It requires infrastructure, alignment, and the kind of cross-sector collaboration that turns policy into practice. Recycling Schweiz (ehemals VSMR) exists precisely to build that connective tissue, between collectors, industry, and public authorities.

It is in this spirit that we are proud to announce that Alain Creteur, CEO of Stahl Gerlafingen, has been elected to the Board. His mandate brings direct industrial accountability, paired with a European perspective on resource governance. The objective is concrete: pragmatic solutions that secure critical resources, reduce emissions, and consolidate Switzerland's standing as a competitive industrial economy.

Circular economy is not a destination. It's an operating model and it demands collaboration and commitment at its best.
