Centralisation of control rooms: innovation in energy infrastructure management at AFV Beltrame Group

The new centralization of control rooms for high and medium voltage electrical substations, represents far more than a technological upgrade: it is a strategic choice for a modern, integrated, and resilient management of energy infrastructure.

The project developed within AFV Beltrame Group at the Târgoviște plant, thanks to the collaboration between the CTF area and the TGV Electrical Department, enables unified supervision of heterogeneous substations (110 kV, 10 kV, 6 kV), significantly improving operational coordination, response times, and service continuity.

Thanks to a redundant fiber-optic network, state-of-the-art PLC and IED systems, and a single centralized control center, it is now possible to: - monitor thousands of I/O signals in real time; - remotely operate circuit breakers and disconnectors; - analyze electrical parameters, events, and alarms; - reduce the need for on-site interventions, enhancing both safety and efficiency.

Particular attention was also given to the upgrade of protection systems, with the introduction of intelligent digital devices capable of reacting to faults within milliseconds, ensuring selectivity, reliability, and advanced communication (IEC 61850).

This approach lays the groundwork for future developments in predictive maintenance, advanced energy data analytics, and total cost of ownership (TCO) reduction, confirming infrastructure innovation as a key enabler of industrial competitiveness and the energy transition.
