Finally, the Group has initiated a circular economy project with specific measures to improve the quality of scrap and other raw materials, as well as to promote the reuse of materials involved in the production process. In line with the ‘AWaRe’ (All Waste Recovered) project, we aim to optimize the recovery of waste produced at the sites. The name of the project is reminiscent of the awareness and desire to always find new ways to valorize those materials that were once defined as waste and are now considered a resource. Such as, for example, steel mill slag that finds internal uses or undergoes certified processes to produce industrial aggregates.
Also for 2022, the Group has achieved the goal of recycling and valorizing at least 90 percent of the waste delivered.
For the reporting and related monitoring of the objectives related to the 5 Pillars mentioned above, the Group has equipped itself with a “Group Sustainability Dashboard” that brings together all data at the level of individual plants and then aggregates them, by means of specific weights, at the consolidated Group level.
This tool thus enables the Group, and the individual plants, to monitor performance and, where necessary, take corrective action in order to meet the various targets.
