AFV Beltrame Group is proud to become the first European steelmaker certified under the Global Steel Climate Council® (GSCC®) Standard.

This achievement marks a significant step not only for our company but for sustainable steelmaking across Europe.

RINA, the independent verifier, established our carbon baseline at 0.571 tonnes of CO₂e per metric ton of hot-rolled steel. From this foundation, we’ve committed to reducing our carbon intensity to 0.457 tCO₂e/t by 2030 and further to 0.12 tCO₂e/t by 2050.

These targets represent real transformation across our operations in Italy, France, Switzerland, and Romania. As Adina Renee Adler, Executive Director of GSCC noted, our certification shows that “ambition and accountability go hand in hand.” We firmly believe that meaningful climate action requires both bold targets and transparent verification.

According to Carlo Beltrame: “As a leading company in the European steel industry, we have embraced the role of pioneers in the sector’s ecological transition, becoming the first in Europe, in the long products segment, to introduce hashtag#Chalibria, our certified carbon-neutral steel, already in 2022.
