Female leadership is no longer an exception: Barbara Beltrame’s speech at Top 100 | WOMEN
From the analysis of data on the role of women in companies in the North East in the decade 2014-2024 edited by
InfoCamere and presented yesterday during the event: Top 100 | WOMEN in Borgoluce, (TV), a picture emerges of gradual but significant transformation, reflecting structural changes in the regional entrepreneurial fabric.
There has been an appreciable increase in the presence of women in positions of responsibility, with the feminisation rate rising from 20.7% to 21.9% in administrative positions. Particularly noteworthy is the progress of women in capital companies (+24.8%), a sign of greater female participation in more structured entrepreneurial realities.
Interestingly, however, this growth is not uniform across sectors and roles.
Barbara Beltrame Giacomello spoke at the panel discussion, moderated by
Lorenza Raffaello together with
Mariluce Geremia: "I was surprised to note that top positions have paradoxically declined sharply. This suggests that, despite quantitative progress, there remain ‘glass ceilings’ that limit women's access to top positions. This leads me to reflect on the relationship between meritocracy and gender policies. The real goal should be the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem in which merit is the sole criterion for selection and advancement, regardless of gender. However, the persistent inequality in senior roles suggests that there are still systemic barriers to the full expression of female talent.
Rewarding merit does not mean ignoring gender issues, but rather removing the obstacles that prevent women from competing on an equal footing by creating conditions in which skills, experience and abilities can emerge naturally. The progress observed in the North East is a step in the right direction, but the path to full utilisation of female human capital still requires constant commitment and attention. Finally, a meritocratic system can help create equal opportunities for all by allowing women to emerge and establish themselves in leadership and responsibility roles. In this way, companies will benefit from a greater diversity of thought and experience, which is essential to meet the challenges of the global market".
