Steel, Heritage and Leadership: A New Chapter with Swissmem

Being elected to the Board of Swissmem represents a significant honour not only for our CEO, Alain Creteur, but also for Stahl Gerlafingen and the entire AFV Beltrame Group. This appointment reflects more than individual recognition: it underscores our company’s deep roots within Switzerland’s industrial heritage and its active role in shaping it over time. Stahl Gerlafingen, and previously Von Roll, played a key role at a defining moment, when industry leaders and trade unions jointly resisted state intervention in wage-setting and employment matters. The resulting landmark agreement safeguarded social stability while preserving the autonomy of collective bargaining, laying the foundations of today’s collective labour agreement (CLA) in the Swiss MEM industry. We are therefore proud to represent not only a modern #steel producer, but also a company with a longstanding legacy of responsibility, collaboration, and commitment to the Swiss manufacturing sector.
