Italy leads Europe in circular and digital electric steelmaking
With 21 million tonnes of crude steel produced each year, Italy ranks second in Europe and is a leader in the #electrosiderurgy sector, with over 85% of production coming from electric furnaces fuelled by #ferrous scrap. This record reflects our commitment to #circularity and innovation.
However, the sector faces significant challenges: energy costs that are among the highest in Europe, a shortage of ferrous scrap, new environmental regulations and international tariffs.
In this context, the key is to invest in #energyefficiency and #digitalisation by collaborating with specialised partners.
