From Luddism to AI: driving change, not submitting to it
Today’s technological revolution has much in common with that of the Industrial Revolution. Back then, Luddites feared that machines would replace workers. Today, Artificial Intelligence remakes the professional world, generating the same concerns: job loss, skills transformation and quality of working life.
The difference? Today we can choose to lead the change.
Roberto Valente, Group Chief HR & EHS Officer, spoke about this at Reverse, recounting the experience of the Beltrame Group and demonstrating how technology can be integrated in an ethical and sustainable way.
‘AI does not just replace low value-added activities, as was the case in the past. Today, it can also replace activities considered high-value, and this requires a reinterpretation of professional roles. Continuous training, reskilling, digital inclusion and attention to workers’ well-being are the keys to a successful transition.’
The future of work belongs to those who know how to integrate artificial intelligence without losing sight of human value. True innovation is one that puts people at the centre, making technology an ally never a substitute.
