In 2014, the AFV Beltrame Group obtained an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the hot rolled steel products and merchant bars manufactured at its Vicenza (Italy), Trith Saint Léger (France) and Gerlafingen (Switzerland) plants.
Operating in the steel market for over a century and a leading European manufacturer of merchant bars, the AFV Beltrame Group has made a commitment to sustainability, counting on the EPD as its primary informational tool.
Voluntary certification is internationally valid and falls within the EC environmental policies, providing comprehensive credible and verifiable data related to the life cycle environmental performance of our products (Life Cycle Assessment or LCA).
The EPD covers the entire product life cycle, allowing commercial and industrial consumers alike to understand how our products interact with the environment by means of a specific set of indicators.
Supporting and protecting the health and safety of employees is vital to our business operations. We implement this Company vision by maintaining an open dialogue with all staff, providing proper training and conducting on-going awareness campaigns.
The Vicenza head office takes the lead by overseeing the Environmental, Health and Safety Management System, determining action items, monitoring their implementation and coordinating with all manufacturing plants. Each production site has trained staff who act as the primary EHSMS contacts and coordinators.
Integrating business management with concepts such as health, safety at work and environment
Evaluating in advance the risks of any activity performed within the Group sites, in order to be able to take appropriate action to prevent accidents or occupational diseases and in any case to minimize as far as technically possible the severity and probability of such events.
Comply with the laws and other prescriptions undersigned in matters of health and safety of workers and of the environment, through continuous updating activities and timely verification of compliance with the requirements.
To foster continuous and effective communication activities with all stakeholders (Employees, Clients, Contractors, Suppliers, Bodies, Institutions, Citizens) and information / training where required, in relation to health and safety issues and environmental issues, in order to ensure an adequate level of awareness.
Constantly monitor, for a continuous improvement, the environmental aspects and residual risks for Health and Safety by using appropriate monitoring tools and systems
Our approach to #CircularEconomy focuses on different waste recovery projects, in order to develop the use of steel process by-products in several industrial sectors. In our Vicenza site, we are currently involved in a project (called SARR – Advanced Systems for Waste Recovery), aimed at the valorization of the ladle furnace slag. The Project, which involves the complete concrete production supply chain, is included in the Regional Fund framework POR FESR 2014-2020 and is carried out with the support of Padova University (CIRCE Dept.) #CircularEconomy #WasteRecovery
Sarr ProjectSustainability is for AFV Beltrame Group an essential part of our corporate identity. This is why we have published the “Green Thinking” Brochure. We want to highlight our continuous commitment in improving for a responsible industrial development.
Our efforts in water saving and waste recovery and to reduce raw materials and energy consumption are all focused on a eco-sustainable approach on the products and on the way they are processed. We firmly believe that better practices and strategies from the whole Group together with investments, strong responsibility and deep dedication, will lead us to win the important challenges the Environment has launched us. Think Green. Act responsibly.
The AFV Beltrame Group develops programmes aimed at continuously improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our processes and systems.
The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) department at the Vicenza head office spearheads all relevant activities, defining guidelines, overseeing implementation and coordinating action items with each Group site.
Since 2015, our annual Safety Day has provided an opportunity to share experiences, get training, and learn more about safety and workplace risks.
This event supports and facilitates:
A safe and healthy work environment that complies with current accident prevention regulations.
Standard procedures for managing significant risks.
Communication of best practices to the entire Group.
Reporting of workplace accidents and risky behaviour.
Improved environmental performance at every site.
