#Safety does not end when a piece of protective equipment reaches the end of its useful life. It can continue through responsible choices that transform material destined for disposal into a new resource.
With this in mind, AFV is participating in the Back to Work project in collaboration with ESO RECYCLING – Società Benefit arl, which is dedicated to the collection and recycling of protective helmets and safety footwear that are no longer usable.
PPE deposited in the designated containers on site is sorted and sent for recovery and recycling. The resulting granules can then be used to create surfaces for sports facilities, play areas and other applications.
‘Safety is a core value that guides our activities and requires everyone’s conscious contribution. Through the Back to Work project, we are extending this principle to the management of end-of-life PPE, promoting responsible behaviour and transforming a simple gesture into a tangible contribution to environmental protection and resource recovery.’ Diego Ferrante, Plant HS Manager, Vicenza.
“Reducing our environmental impact depends on practical projects like this one, which help minimise the amount of waste sent for disposal and promote the recovery of resources in line with the principles of the circular economy,” said Gian Maria Pasqualin, Environment Manager.
Every helmet and every pair of shoes that are disposed of correctly can be turned into new raw materials. Because the transition to more sustainable models also depends on the choices we make every day and on everyone’s involvement.
