The future of sustainable construction is built on collaboration, innovation and strong regional value chains.
We were pleased to welcome around 50 members of Baukader Schweiz to Stahl Gerlafingen for a day dedicated to circular economy principles, #decarbonisation and the future of Switzerland’s construction industry.
Following an opening address by Ray Gysin and an engaging speed networking session, Alain Creteur introduced Stahl Gerlafingen and outlined the company’s contribution to advancing a more circular and sustainable economy.
Kim Lengyel then explored key topics including low-carbon reinforcing steel, the decarbonisation of steel production and the importance of maintaining a strong Swiss industrial base to support the country’s sustainability ambitions. The presentation highlighted the strategic role of domestic steel production in creating long-term economic and environmental value.
Additional insights were shared by @Cederic Nater and Nicolas Binz from Vigier Holding AG, who presented the successful collaboration between Vigier and Stahl Gerlafingen in developing resource-efficient construction solutions and promoting circular approaches across the value chain.
A common theme emerged throughout the day: building a more sustainable future requires close cooperation between industries, local expertise and responsibly sourced materials. From infrastructure and industrial facilities to residential and public buildings, regional value creation remains a key enabler of the transition towards a circular economy.
The strong engagement and interest shown by attendees reaffirmed the growing importance of Swiss steel and locally produced construction materials as essential pillars of a resilient, competitive and sustainable construction sector.
